I love having a fresh Bouquet of Flowers on the dining room table and the bedroom. However it can be quite expensive, especially in winter to buy oft new fresh Bouquets. In winter my freshly bought flowers tend to dry out faster as in summer, probably because of the all the heating. So I decided to experiment with potted plants as deco instead. You might think at first this idea is a bit strange and unfitting since traditionally plants and pots belong to the window ledge. However I love to experiment and this time I really love the result. And also the urban jungle trend has been there for a while, encouraging to decorate with plants in the most creative ways.
Consistency is the key element in this decoration. I chose matt black pots to go tone in tone with our matt black dining table. When setting the table, you can set colourful accents with tableware, as well as integrating Cement and Brass elements. On day to day basis, I add small colourful accessories near the potted plants, such as candlesticks. I tend to be quite playful with it. What do you think?
By the way, you might have noticed the other new elements in our dining room – the black wire shelf. I love the minimal feeling it gives and that it allows me to store favourite pieces such as cookbooks, candles, teapots and dinnerware.

Tell me how do you decorate your dinner table with plants.
Ich liebe es, ein Bouquet frischer Blumen auf dem Tisch zu haben. Aber das kann schon ein wenig kostspielig werden, wenn man regelmässig einen neuen Blumenstrauß kaufen muss. Insbesondere im Winter, wenn die frisch gekauften Blumen schnell austrocknen – wahrscheinlich liegt es an die Heizungsluft. Und so bin ich auf Zimmerpflanzen umgestiegen, um den Esstisch zu dekorieren. Ja, traditionell gesehen gehören Zimmerpflanzen eigentlich auf die Fensterbank oder? Nicht ganz. Der aktuelle „Urban Jungle“ Trend zeigt mehr und mehr schöne Beispiele, wie man mit unkonventionellen Zimmerpflanzen die Wohnung dekorieren kann.
Die Sukkulenten z.B sind eine gute Wahl, weil sie nicht viele Standortansprüche haben und sich gut trotz trockenen Heizungsluft halten. Ganz „Ton in Ton“ auf unserem schwarzen Tisch, in schwarzen Blumentöpfen vor einem ruhigen Hintergrund passen sie auch zu verschiedensten Geschirrstile. Ich spiele viel mit kleinen farbigen Kontrasten als Tisch-Deko, wie z.B mit verschiedenen Kerzenständern.
Übrigens, Ihr habt vielleicht auch ein anderes neues Dekoelement in unserem Esszimmer bemerkt. Das schwarze Eisenregal. Ich mag diesen modernen minimalisten Stil und das Regal eignet sich wunderbar als Alternative für eine Vitrine. Hier haben manche Kochbücher und Geschirr ihren Platz gefunden und schaffen eine einladende Atmosphäre.
In den kommenden Wochen plane ich Euch mehr über das Re-design des Esszimmers zu zeigen. Heute ist nur ein erster Einblick.
